Developed for healthcare professionals who want to be trained on temporary external cardiac pacing using the Medtronic 53401 and 5392 EPG pacemakers.

The course consists of interactive tutorials based on real-time 3D heart simulation, complete guide of the single-chamber temporary external pacemaker Medtronic model 53401 EPG and overview and basic operation of the dual-chamber Medtronic model 5392 EPG.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES
Identify the control knobs and be able to explain how to use them to program device
Distinguish over-sensing, under-sensing, and loss of capture
Identify the basic components of a temporary external pacemaker
Identify the basic steps of rapid atrial pacing
Locate resources for the pacemaker device
Describe the key steps in changing the batteries
Identify do’s and don’ts for cleaning the device
Identify compatible cables
Describe when the device should be returned to Medtronic for cleaning or maintenance.

Pacemaker device: The single- or dual-chamber device appears depending on which chapter you are visiting. You can drag the device around by tap-dragging the device. All of the device controls are operational: power on/off, lock/unlock, pause, pacing rate, output, sensitivity, mode, RAP, DOO, etc. Follow the instructions on each tutorial page. You can place the pacing wire tip anywhere inside the heart.

3D heart view: You can change the heart view and zoom in/out by dragging your mouse, pad or finger on the screen. You can pick and drag the pacing wire tip and place it anywhere inside the heart.

Live ECG: Tap on the up/down arrows on the left of the ECG to display any of the 12 leads. You can pause the simulation by tapping anywhere on the live ECG at the top of the screen. Tap again on the ECG to resume the simulation. When paused, you can use the caliper tool on the right side of the ECG, to take measurements in ms or bpm. When paused in Hi-Fi simulation speed, a slider allows you to drag the ECG back and forth and see the ECG waves in parallel with the action potential wavefront on the 3D heart view.

Apart from the single- or dual-chamber course content, you can explore multiple patient cases (3rd degree AV block, sinus bradycardia, sick sinus syndrome), additional features and adjust the settings (like intrinsic heart rate parameters, DCCV, anatomical views, simulation speed and many more) to fit your needs.

Use of Apple Pencil or a soft rubber tip pen is recommended for better interaction. All text is available in English. Voice-over text facility is available in English.
